CareerClutch ("we", "our", "us") is an AI-powered interview preparation app designed for job seekers. We take your privacy seriously — especially because you trust us with sensitive career data like resumes and interview answers.
🔒 TL;DR — Our Core Privacy Promise:
Your resume is anonymized before AI processing. Voice and video data are processed for feedback and not retained on our servers. We never sell your data. Period.
When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. This is used for authentication and to personalize your experience. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from your Google account.
When you upload or paste a resume for optimization, the text is processed on your device. Before any AI analysis, our on-device PII scrubber removes personal identifiers including:
Only the anonymized professional content (skills, experience, education) is sent to our AI provider for analysis. Your original resume content is stored on your device and synced to our cloud database (Supabase) for cross-device access.
Your interview answers, scores, and performance metrics are stored locally on your device and synced to our cloud database (Supabase) for cross-device access. This data is associated with your account ID, not your personal identity.
CareerClutch requests camera and microphone permissions for the following features:
| Permission | Feature | How It's Used |
|---|---|---|
| MICROPHONE | Voice Interview Mode | Audio is recorded during practice and sent to our AI provider (Google Gemini) for transcription, scoring, and feedback. Audio is processed and not retained by Gemini per their API terms. We do not store audio recordings on our servers. |
| CAMERA | Video Interview Mode | Video frames are sampled during practice and sent to our AI provider (Google Gemini) for body language analysis (eye contact, posture, expressions). Frames are processed for analysis and not retained. We do not store video recordings on our servers. |
⚡ Voice and video are processed ephemerally. Recordings are sent to Gemini only for the duration of the analysis call, and neither Gemini nor we retain the raw audio or video afterward. Only the resulting feedback (text scores, suggestions) is saved to your account.
We collect anonymized usage data through Firebase Analytics to improve the app. This includes: features used, session duration, crash reports, and device type. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.
If you opt in to notifications, we collect a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token to deliver practice reminders and updates. You can opt out anytime through device settings or in-app preferences.
CareerClutch uses the following third-party services:
| Service | Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Gemini API | AI-powered question generation, voice transcription and scoring, video frame analysis for body language, resume optimization | |
| Firebase | Analytics, crash reporting, push notifications | |
| Supabase | Supabase Inc. | User authentication, cloud database sync |
| Google Play Billing | Subscription management (PRO plan) |
Each provider has their own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function. Importantly, all resume data sent to Gemini is pre-anonymized — Google cannot identify the resume owner. Voice recordings and video frames sent to Gemini are processed for the request only; Gemini does not retain this data per their API terms.
Your interview history and performance data are retained as long as your account exists. You can delete your data at any time:
CareerClutch is designed for job seekers aged 16 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
You have the right to:
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use of CareerClutch after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
